As well as the famous Old Mill in Ambleside the Lake District has a variety of Mills of historical interest in original working order.

Acorn Bank Watermill was built in the 12th century next to Crowdale Beck. Now open as a garden.

Little Salkeld Mill is an old water powered mill which began to grind flour in the 1750's. Mill tours are available as well as a shop and tearoom.

Eskdale Corn Mill dates from 1578 and is located amongst breathtaking scenery with a lovely picnic area.

Beetham - Heron Corn Mill & Museum of Papermaking. A restored corn mill driven by a 14ft breast-shot wheel with a baking gallery. Museum shows the history of papermaking with demonstrations available.
