Lake District Osprey

Ospreys have been reintroduced to the UK after they were declared extinct as a breeding species between 1916 and 1954, They first came back to Scotland and then established a breeding colony in the Lake District near Bassenthwaite Lake.

There are several viewpoints around the Lake and an exhibition maintained by The Lake District Osprey Project is open during the Summer Osprey viewing season from April to October. In the meantime visit the Osprey Watch website and lean more about these fabulous birds of prey.
